VFW Post 10624 in Mount Pleasant is proud to announce its participation in the National Day of Service by hosting a food drop-off event to support the V.A. Food bank on Sunday, May 4, 2025. Members of the community are warmly invited to contribute non-perishable food items at VFW Post 10624, located at 1411 Stuart Engals Blvd, between the hours of 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
All donations collected during this event will be carefully transported and directly given to the V.A. Food bank, playing a crucial role in addressing food insecurity within our local veteran community. The National Day of Service serves as an annual reminder of the power of collective action and volunteerism. VFW Post 10624 remains deeply committed to serving both our veterans and the wider local community, and this food drive offers a meaningful opportunity for everyone to contribute to a cause that directly impacts the lives of those who have served our nation. According to Bill King, Commander, VFW Post 10624, “Last year we had a phenomenal turn out and we’re hoping even more of the community gets involved this year.”
Suggested donation items include a wide range of non-perishable goods such as canned vegetables, fruits, soups, and proteins, as well as staples like pasta, rice, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, and oatmeal. Shelf-stable milk and juice and essential personal hygiene items like soap, toothpaste, and shampoo are also greatly appreciated. VFW Post 10624 is steadfast in its dedication to supporting the brave men and women who have served our country, and this food drive represents one of the many ways the post actively engages with the veteran community to provide essential assistance where it is most needed.
The food drop-off event will take place on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at VFW Post 10624, located at 1411 Stuart Engals Blvd in Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.
