VFW Post 10624 National Day of Service wrap-up May 2024

VFW Post 10624's National Day of Service on May 4th, 2024 was a heartwarming display of community spirit, overcoming a rainy morning to collect a significant donation for local veterans. Over 800 pounds of non-perishable goods were collected through a drive-thru drop off event and donation boxes placed at participating businesses throughout Mount Pleasant. But the generosity didn't stop there. Humana health care stepped in with matching donations, more than doubling the impact of the community's contributions and bringing the final total to over 1,800 pounds of much-needed food for the Charleston Veterans Administration food bank. Even the youngest members of the VFW community got involved, showcasing their commitment to service. A lemonade stand run by children ages 3-8 brought in nearly $250 towards the cause, demonstrating that giving back starts early. The total haul, valued at over $1,500, was delivered to the VA on May 7th, ensuring that local veterans would have access to essential food supplies.
